Egyptian tortoises (Testudo kleinmanni) are native to coastal Libya and Egypt. They’re one of the smallest species of tortoise, with males averaging from 3 to 4 inches and females averaging from 4 to 6 inches. Egyptians are very rare (CITES1) and for their diminutive size they have a big personality!

Egyptians require UV lighting, medium temperatures (70-90F) and a dry environment. We spray our Egyptian enclosure in the morning to mimic the coastal mist in their natural habitat. They require a diet of dark, leafy greens, cactus pads and assorted weeds and flowers.
