Leopard tortoises (Stigmochelys pardalis) are native to Africa. We keep what was previously classified as the smaller sub species, Pardalis babcocki. Our males range from 10 to 12 inches and our females range from 12 to 16 inches.
Leopards are very personable and love human interaction! When we sit in their outdoor area, they immediately surround us for shell rubs and chin scratches! They even climb onto our laps!
Leopards require UV lighting, high temperatures (80-100F), medium humidity and lots of food! As adults, they also need lots of space. Leopards thrive on mixed greens, cactus pads, grasses and veggies. Ours love to be outside in the summer, grazing and basking to their hearts' content!
